Onboard Programming: Yes <strong>Programming Notes:</strong> Gather all remote transmitters for this vehicle. <strong>Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:</strong> <strong>Be sure to review all programming steps before proceeding</strong> <ol> <li>Start with the key out of the ignition, driver’s door open, all other doors and trunk closed and driver’s door unlocked.</li> <li>Insert the key into the ignition without turning it, and pull it out <strong>2 times</strong> <strong>in a row</strong> within 5 seconds.</li> <li>Perform these steps within 40 seconds. A) Close, then open the driver’s door <strong>2</strong> <strong>times in a row</strong>. B) Insert the key into the ignition without turning it, and pull key out.</li> <li>Perform these steps within 40 seconds. A) Close, then open the driver’s door <strong>2 times in a row</strong>. B) Insert the key into ignition and leave it in the ignition. C) Close the driver’s door. D) Turn the ignition to ON without starting the car, then back to OFF (2 times).  E) Remove the key from the ignition.</li> <li>Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should lock, and then unlock (cycle) automatically (twice) showing successful entry into programming mode. Return to step 1 if the door locks do not cycle at this point.</li> <li>Perform these steps within 40 seconds. A) Press the Lock and Unlock buttons on the remote at the same time for 1.5 seconds. B) Immediately press the UnLock button only and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should lock and then unlock once showing successful programming. (If the door locks cycle twice, repeat Step 6, as the remote was not accepted.  See Technique below)</li> <li>Repeat Step 6 for each new remote.</li> <li>Open driver’s door. Test all remotes. Programming is complete.</li> </ol> <strong>NOTE: </strong>  <em>When locks Cycle during remote programming.</em> <em>One (1) cycle of the locks means programming successful.</em> <em>Two (2) cycles of the locks means programming Unsuccessful.</em> <em><strong>Technique: (used on 05 4Runner.  May work on other models) </strong></em> Perform step 6, (3 Times). What will happen: First round of programming (step 6) nothing. When both lock &amp; unlock are pressed simultaneously (the second time) the locks will cycle twice. Indicating programming failed. then press Unlock button. and step 6 a third time. After pressing the unlock button the third time the locks should cycle once. And you are done. Repeat for any other remotes you want to program.
